I'm off on my next project, and it's a bit more ambitious than the shaker table. That being said, it uses many of the same joinery and techniques, but with a few twists. The original design comes from an old Popular Woodworking article by Glen Huey. There is also a sketchup diagram for my design in the 3D Warehouse.
In this episode, I talk about the project, the changes I made, and go over a few key design concepts. Some people prefer to design as they go, but I like to get all my decisions hammered out early in the process, especially on a bigger project like this, and where I'm running fairly lean on materials. This will likely be a good long project, and will probably produce around a dozen or so episodes. Wish me luck!

Rob - loved hearing about the changes in design, reasoning, etc. 75 bd ft! Nice. What lumber yard do you use?
The whole project is about 75 BF (and that's running VERY lean). 50 of cherry (including one stick of curly cherry which was a bit more expensive). For this job, I went up to Brentwood, NH to Highland Hardwoods. I usually make the trip up there for larger purchases since their prices are very good, and there is no sales tax. http://www.highlandhardwoods.com/
Cool - I've heard good things about them - will have to check them out for my next project. I've been going to Downes and Reader, which hasn't been the best experience (has been OK, just not great).
