A photo finish

This is it folks, the final episode on the step stool project.  This episode covers the final sanding and shaping, my process for wedging the tenons, and the final assembly and finish.  Because of all the concave contours on this piece, it was very difficult to rely too much on power sanding, so I had to resort to a lot of elbow grease and a cloud of dust on this one.

Next week, I plan to start releasing episodes that feature the new Festool Domino XL - a beast of a joinery system.  So stay tuned for how I used the Domino to build an entire table in a single day.

Where do you get the sharpeners for those, i have a drafting pencil too and have wondered where to get that style of sharpener?

My drafting pencil has a sharpener in the cap on the back. You just pop it off and there is a little hole in it that you stick the lead into. Not sure if they all have that, but it's definitely not obvious that's what it is.

Truthfully I haven't liked your bi-unicorn design throughout this entire series until 1:03 left in the final episode. This is really unique and beautiful. People like you who can visualize a finished product like this, from the start, really impress me. Wish I could do that. Great work.

Jim, truthfully I wasn't even sure if I was going to like this design. I didn't do a sketch up model or a full scale model so all I had was a vision in my head. I don't expect this design is for everyone but I really wanted to do something unique since this was going into a creative category in a show. I feel like if nothing else I accomplished that. But thanks for sticking it out until that 1:03 mark.

I love how you dumped a bunch of sawdust on your feet for comedic relief
